WHITE GIFT SUNDAY, December 11, 2016
For many years now, just before Christmas, it has been our
custom to celebrate “White Gift Sunday.” Members of the
church family pick up “tags” off the giving tree, purchase the
gifts listed and then bring them to worship as we celebrate the
gift of the Christ child. Our children stage the nativity. The gifts
are shared at the manger and then delivered to homes where
there is need within our church and the community..
Each year, our church collects items and packages them up
into shoe boxes in support of Operation Christmas Child
through the organization, Samaritan's Purse. Last year alone,
the Lord opened doors for Operation Christmas Child teams
to distribute more than 10 million shoe box gifts to boys and
girls worldwide.   Monetary donations ($7.00 per box) are also
critical to help transport and deliver each shoe box gift to a
child in need.   The shoe boxes are filled with basics: pencils
and paper, crayons,
small toys and
stuffed animals,
toiletries and
wash clothes,
socks, hats, etc.
They are sent out
in November so
that they arrive in
time for Christmas
for a deserving child.
