Prepared for Every Circumstance

They looked like they were having the time of their lives. Every day there
was a new photo of my friend, Chris Jewell, and his family on Facebook.
I was struck by the fact that they were wearing matching T-shirts bearing
the appropriate theme of the moment.
You could tell that they had done some prior planning. One day it was
Magic Kingdom. Another day it was Epcot. Standing outside the Be Our
Guest restaurant they were wearing their Beauty and the Beast shirts.
It was cool. I loved it.
There was a shirt to welcome in the New Year at Disney and another
one featuring the Carousel of Progress. With Spaceship Earth in the
background, they posed in their Epcot shirts with big smiles. They came
prepared for every possibility.
I was drawn to Chris' photos because Lori and I were heading to Orlando
the following week. We had planned but not to that degree. We knew it
was going to be cold and that it might rain one day. So we brought
sweaters and rain coats. LOL.
Most of us have heard of the 6 P's of planning - Prior planning and
preparation prevents poor performance. It's an essential practice for
every business professionals like Chris. The Apostle Paul agrees. He
takes it a step farther in Philippians 4.
Paul tells us to, "Rejoice in the Lord always!" God is with us. He goes
on to say. "Don't be anxious." He says in every situation we should give
our worries, fears, plans and dreams to God. In doing so, he assures us
that God's peace will follow.
I wish life was as fun as a trip to Disney World. That's not the case for
many of us. Real life can be difficult and filled with unexpected trials.
Yet, when we put our trust in God, life becomes more manageable. Paul
says God's peace will guard our hearts.
Paul closes with this. I believe it is the best preparation for a life's journey.
He says, "Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever
is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent
or praiseworthy - think about such things." Make this your goal in 2018.
You'll be prepared for anything.
