Living Like a Pro

 May 17, 2017
Dear Friends,
I happened to look up and see him on the television screen.  He was
walking slowly, taking in the sights.  He had a golf club in his hand.
He was holding it like a baton ready to orchestrate his next drive.  He
stopped and the camera panned out and to give a wider angle.

I was surprised to see what happened next.  Two men came walking
past him.  One carried a big heavy golf bag loaded with equipment.
The other was wearing a backpack. As they came to a stop, they each
went to work.  I suddenly realized that these were the caddies.

The man, who was identified as pro golfer Adam Scott on the screen,
went up to the men. He said something to one of them and handed
him the club.  Out came a cloth.  Within seconds the club was wiped
down and handed back to him.  With that he was off to the tee.

How many men does it take to play a round of golf?  If you are a
professional it takes at least three.  The thought hit me that it would be
nice to have a couple of people walk around with me all day just in case
I needed something.  Feel like a cup of coffee.  "Here you go, sir."

Imagine if you turned around and someone stepped up to do your bidding.
What if you just needed someone to clean up your mess.  It would be pretty
nice to have someone to do all the heavy lifting.  I'd love to have somebody
who I know will be there when I need them.

That's when the thought hit me.  I do have someone.  You do too.  The
Scriptures tell us that God is always with us.  Deuteronomy 31:8 says, "It
is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you..."
Isaiah 41:10 says, "Fear not for I am with you.  Be not dismayed.  I am your
God.  I will strengthen you.  I will help you."  That's just the beginning.

It has been said that a good caddy can make all the difference in the game
of golf.  The same is true in life.  So why not let God do what he has promised
to do?  Let him prepare the way.  Then follow his lead and live life like you
are a pro.  Go ahead.  He's got your back.  Fore!

God bless! See you in court.
