Keep Dreaming Dreams                    September 3, 2014

Dear friends,

I didn't think much about it when he mentioned it.  Lennie told me he had received
notice that a film crew was looking for someone to play a pastor in a movie being
produced locally.  "Are you interested?" he asked.  "I will send you the
information."

Later that afternoon it appeared in my email folder: FILM in RI seeking LEADS.
The notice went on to say that they would be filming between September 3rd and
19th.  They were not only looking for a pastor.  There were four other roles being
cast for a man his fifties.  I put in for all of them.

I caught the acting bug while I was in high school.  From my first roles as the goofy
gangster in Kiss Me Kate and the Gentleman Caller in The Glass Menagerie, I
went on to enjoy a number of appearances in community theater productions and
variety shows.  I loved it.  Call me a ham.

As a matter of fact, my friend Leon and I dreamed of going to Hollywood, getting a
job on a sound stage and being discovered.  I know it sounds corny now, but we
were 18 at the time.  Dreams were still real to us then.  Anything was possible as
we thought about the future.

A lot of years have passed, so call me foolish for sending my head-shot and
resume to the casting director.  I love what I do but I am still dreaming dreams.
Zig Ziglar once said, "We were designed for accomplishment, engineered for
success and endowed with the seeds of greatness."

I believe that. We were created in the image of God.  He has a plan for each of us.
We may not be able to reach our dreams and live up to our calling on our own, but
all things are possible with God.  We just need to be open to it when the
opportunity comes along.

I pray you will follow the call that God has put on your heart and keep dreaming no
matter how old you are.  Who knows?  One day the curtain may open and you will
find yourself center stage in the greatest production of all, the one called life.
Praise God.

God bless! See you in church.
